Our Heritage
Our Connecticut location was established by John I. Taylor and Oscar Modeen and began serving the greater Hartford, Connecticut, community in 1909.
The second generation, represented by Harold Taylor, joined the Funeral Home in 1933.
Harold was followed by third generation William J. Taylor, President Emeritus. In 1968 William relocated to Jupiter, Florida, with his wife, Ann, and their children. He established The Village Funeral Home in his new hometown and continued the management of Taylor & Modeen's Connecticut location.
In 1996 William Taylor and his
son, fourth generation Andrew Taylor, LFD celebrated the opening of our
new Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter, Florida. Andrew Taylor, LFD split his time between Taylor & Modeen's
Florida and Connecticut locations during early years of his career. Andrew now serves as Vice President and Managing Funeral Director of Taylor
& Modeen's Connecticut location.
In 2008 Taylor & Modeen of Jupiter expanded its operation and established our family owned and operated Oak Hammock Crematory. Oak Hammock is operated exclusively to meet the needs of the families we serve at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home.
In 2010 fourth generation Carol Taylor-Block became President of Taylor & Modeen, serving at the Jupiter, Florida, location, along with fourth generations Michael Taylor, LFD and James Taylor, Oak Hammock Crematory technician.
