Rosalyn Redding Gladwin

Rosalyn Redding Gladwin, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born on November 15, 1942, in West Palm Beach, FL, to the late Clifford McNiel Redding and Rosa Goodwin Redding. Rosalyn grew up in West Palm Beach and was an active member of what was First United Methodist Church of West Palm Beach in her youth and spent her summers attending and serving as a counselor at the United Methodist Youth Camp in Leesburg, FL. Rosalyn graduated from Palm Beach High (now Dreyfoos School of the Arts) and then attended Palm Beach Junior College, where she began dating Ransom “Skip” Gladwin. Following junior college, she attended Florida State University, where she earned her teaching degree. Rosalyn and Skip were married on August 11, 1964. After college, they returned to Skip’s hometown, Jupiter, FL, where Rosalyn began her career as a teacher, and Skip worked at Pratt & Whitney and then as a general contractor. Jupiter would be the town where they would settle down, grow roots, and become deeply involved in the community. Rosalyn dedicated 33 years to teaching in the Palm Beach County School District, primarily at Jerry Thomas Elementary School. Her students, colleagues, and friends always remembered her for kindness in her work and service to others. Throughout her life, Rosalyn lived and taught others that community and place are important. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Jupiter/Tequesta. She had a deep love of Palm Beach County, FL, history and genealogy, and she used her time as a teacher and in retirement as a docent for the Historical Society of Palm Beach County to teach others about the beauty and diversity of South Florida and the importance of remembering well where you are from. She was a lover of birds and gardens and taught her children and grandchildren to put their hands in the dirt and to stop and smell the roses in order to love and appreciate the place where you grew up. She also loved giving gifts and reminding those around her that they were not forgotten and were important. Rosalyn is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Celine Gladwin of Valdosta, and Ryan and Natalia Gladwin of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Randa Gladwin and Jebran Gladwin, both of Valdosta, and Eva Gladwin and Lucas Gladwin, both of West Palm Beach, FL; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Kyle Sawyer of McKinney, TX; brother-in-law Ted Spies of Juno Beach, FL; sister-in-law Brenda Gladwin of Tequesta, FL; nephew Chris Chocolaad; and several other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ransom F. “Skip” Gladwin, III. A rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel, in Valdosta, GA. The family will receive friends following the service from 6 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at First United Methodist Church of Jupiter/Tequesta. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 - 12:30. Rosalyn will be laid to rest beside her husband at Riverside Memorial Park in Jupiter, FL. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jupiter/Tequesta or the Historical Society of Palm Beach County.
