Mitchell Yelen

Mitchell “Mitch” Yelen, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away surrounded by the family he cherished above all else. Mitch was the definition of dedication to both his family and his work. He built a life centered on love, responsibility, and showing up for the people who mattered most. As a father, he led by example, instilling values of hard work, integrity, and care that continue to guide his children today. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shellie, and his children, Josh and Meryl and their spouses Diana and Colin, who carry forward the lessons he taught not only as professionals, but more importantly as parents themselves. Seeing his children grow into accomplished, compassionate adults and loving parents was one of his greatest sources of pride. In recent years, Mitch’s greatest joy came from his four grandchildren, Ethan, Jack, Aria, and Lance, who became the true light of his life. He rarely missed Ethan and Jack’s hockey games and loved seeing them win trophies. He also treasured his special sleepovers with Aria and Lance, moments filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be forever cherished. Mitch also found happiness in the simple things that brought him joy: trips to Las Vegas, watching Miami Hurricanes football, the Florida Panthers, the Chicago Bears, his Northwestern Wildcats, playing handball and listening to oldies music. Even in “retirement”, Mitch continued to work on the things he loved. Whether it was working with clients who became friends at Femwell & VitalMD or his board directorship at Spanish Broadcasting, he loved what he did and added tremendous value. Above all, Mitch will be remembered for his unwavering love, his ethics and moral compass, his steady presence, and the example he set for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved so deeply.
