Margaret "Peggy" Ann Buchwald

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Buchwald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, died peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on April 4, 2025, in Jupiter, Florida, at the age of 80, following 35 years of residence at Jupiter Cove Condominium. Peggy was born on July 26, 1944, in Elmira, New York. She was the devoted wife of Bucky Buchwald, the love of her life, with whom she shared a lifetime of adventures, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised two children, Bob Buchwald and Meg Grebe, and were blessed with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Peggy earned her bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University and went on to receive her master’s degree from the University of Southern California. She dedicated 33 years of her life to education, passionately teaching English to middle and high school students. Her love of literature, sharp wit, and deep care for her students left a lasting impact on countless young lives. As the wife of an army officer, Peggy embraced a life of travel and discovery, living in various places across the United States, as well as in Germany and South Korea. Her spirit of adventure and zest for life grounded in her knowledge of literature and love of family was only matched by her planning and meticulous preparation…whether going on a cruise, a cross country road trip or a family vacation in Cocoa Beach or Seneca Falls. No matter where she called home, she brought warmth, grace and a deep sense of community to those around her. Peggy was a voracious reader, a fierce bridge player, and a high school cheerleader at Mynderse Academy, an early glimpse of the energy and spirit she carried throughout her life. She had a remarkable gift for giving, always finding the perfect present and wrapping it with care. Her thoughtfulness and generosity knew no bounds. Peggy was deeply loved for her kindness, sense of humor, wisdom, and her boundless heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a family who will forever cherish her memory. Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Clarence “Bucky” Buchwald Jr., son, Clarence “Bucky” Buchwald III, and his wife, Maria Dee-Buchwald, daughter, Margaret “Meg” Grebe and her husband Carl Grebe, In-laws, Sarah and Frank Vergamini and Jon and Debbie Buchwald, grandchildren, Courtney Buchwald-Schoots, Carey Buchwald, Catie Grebe-Cushatt and Jon Grebe. Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Margaret Fox Husband and Malcolm Fay Hawxhurst, brother, Malcolm “Pete” Fay Hawxhurst and her In-laws Clarence “Bucky” Buchwald Sr. and Helen Hadley Buchwald.
