Leon Viglianese

Leon A. Viglianese, 89, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 18, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Leon was the proud son of Italian immigrants, Felice Viglianese and Giovanna Cuzzacrea. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values they instilled: faith, hard work, loyalty, perseverance, and an unwavering devotion to family. Leon was the devoted husband of Lucille Viglianese, the love of his life, for 66 wonderful years. Together they built a marriage founded on love, commitment, faith, and mutual respect, creating a family legacy that will endure for generations. He was the loving father of Joan Scirrotto (Ronald) of Stuart, Florida, Susan Saunders of Jupiter, Florida, and the late Gregory Viglianese of Stuart, Florida. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Anthony Saunders, Devon Scirrotto, Paige Saunders, and Giovanna Scirrotto. Nothing brought Leon greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He celebrated their accomplishments, encouraged their dreams, and took immense pride in the people they became. Leon was especially proud of his Italian heritage. As the son of immigrants, he deeply appreciated the sacrifices made by his parents and embraced the traditions and values of his Italian roots. Family gatherings were among his greatest joys, and he believed that life's best moments were shared around a table filled with delicious food, laughter, stories, and loved ones. His passion for good food was matched only by his love of sharing it with family and friends. A lifelong learner, Leon attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed a successful career with General Electric, where he served as a Sales Engineering Executive. Throughout his professional life and later entrepreneurial ventures, Leon earned the respect of colleagues and friends through his determination, strong work ethic, and relentless pursuit of excellence. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille; his daughters, Joan Scirrotto and Susan Saunders; his grandchildren, Anthony Saunders, Devon Scirrotto, Paige Saunders, and Giovanna Scirrotto. He was predeceased by his cherished son, Gregory Viglianese. Though he will be deeply missed, Leon's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in knowing that the lessons he taught, the traditions he cherished, and the love he shared will continue for generations to come. His family will forever remember his strength, wisdom, unwavering loyalty, and the love he shared so generously throughout his life. A Memorial Mass celebrating Leon's life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, Florida. Family and friends are invited to attend. Following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be held at Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida, where family and friends will gather to honor Leon's memory and share stories of a life well lived.
