Gerald Daniel Mendelson

Gerald “Jerry” Mendelson passed away peacefully in his home on June 15, 2023, at the age of 67. Jerry was born in Suffern, NY on May 30, 1956 to Gerald and Jeanne Mendelson. As a young man, Jerry moved to Florida. In 1990 Jerry proudly joined the United States Army National Guard while employed full time for the USPS. He enjoyed a 30 year career as postal worker, retiring in 2012. After retirement, Jerry spent several years in Georgia fulfilling his dream of having a farm. He eventually moved back ‘home’ to South Florida to spend more time with his beloved daughters and grandchildren. Jerry had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did, especially when he was outdoors. Jerry loved all water sports, boating, and fishing and was a member of the Gold Coast Ski Club. He also enjoyed playing poker and archery. He loved spending time with his daughter, Jennelle, and her children and going on fun Cub Scout adventures. His favorite place to relax was on his back patio with his dogs. Jerry, also, had a recent love and dedication to yoga- a passion his daughter Jerrica introduced to him. True to his character, Jerry exhibited strength and resilience, until the very end, fighting a fierce battle against pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered for all the love and kindness he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Jennelle Mendelson O’Leary (Lucas) and Jerrica Mendelson Ryan (Joseph); his grandchildren Mason (13) and Charlotte O’Leary (10); his brother Ric Mendelson; his half-brother Jeff Mendelson; and his dear friend, Dennis Batur. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne, father, Gerald, and his sister, Lynne. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in his honor to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County. Services will be held on Thursday, June 22nd, at Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street, Jupiter, FL 33458. Visitation will be held between 11:00am–12:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00pm. All family and friends are welcome.
