Frances J. Shubert

Frances J. (Mieczkowski) Shubert, 95, of Farmington, formerly of Oxford Street, Hartford and Black Point Beach, Niantic, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at The Reservoir in West Hartford. She was the loving wife of the late Leonard Shubert. Born and raised in Hartford, the daughter of the late Boleslaw and Frances (Mull) Mieczkowski, she graduated from Hartford Public High School, Class of 1941, and was an accomplished dancer. Frances performed in ballet, tap and toe events throughout the Hartford area during high school and continued to enjoy dance as a young adult. She and Leonard married August 3, 1942 and enjoyed 69 years together. Aside from raising a family, Frances worked in the Finance Department with Aetna Insurance Company for 32 years. In retirement, she and Leonard traveled extensively and especially enjoyed trips to Hawaii. Frances was a lifelong member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church in Hartford and an active member of the Ladies Guild. She leaves three children and their families, Frances and Robert Garrow of Farmington and their daughters, Mary (Alan) and Lynn (Carl); Donald and Sharyn Shubert of Naples, FL and his children, Michael, Lori, Kristen, Diana (David), Steven; and Laura and Richard Granger of East Granby and her children, Phillip (Rebecca) and Venessa; seventeen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Andrew Shubert and her sister Helen Murawski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 14, 2018, 10 a.m. at the Church of Ss. Cyril & Methodius, Hartford. Friends are encouraged to proceed directly to church. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict, Bloomfield. Calling Hours will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT.
