Douglass Eugene Pereboom

Douglass Eugene Pereboom of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at aged 75 on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Doug was born on April 23rd, 1950 to Eugene and Elaine Pereboom. The oldest of 3 boys, he set the example with good behavior and even better grades, graduating as the valedictorian of his high school in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Doug loved to learn, and as he worked towards his Arts and Sciences Degree with a focus in Economics at the University of Oklahoma, he enjoyed taking extra math classes beyond what his degree required. He would go on to become a CPA, as well as earning his J.D. from the University of Miami. Doug settled down in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he would have 3 sons: Jeffrey Pereboom in 1979, Chase Pereboom in 1999, and when he married his wife, Debi Pereboom, in 2007, he embraced her son Zach Gilman (b. 1989) as his own. Always a lover of nature, Doug explored the outdoors all around the country. Here in South Florida he enjoyed SCUBA diving and golf, and was a longtime member of Bear Lakes Country Club; Doug and his CPA buddies would always play 18 holes to celebrate the end of tax season. In Boone North Carolina, where Doug and Debi had a second home, there were long walks through nature and visits to nearby parks like Grandfather Mountain. And Doug loved visiting his brothers out west; skiing in the Rockies, hunting elk and deer in Northern Arizona, and hiking the Grand Canyon. Family was central to Doug's life, and he was a loving and attentive father to his sons, as well as a devoted husband to his wife; his care for his family would earn him the nickname "Mr. Wonderful". He always saw the best in others, and his gentle demeanor could put anyone at ease. Doug also loved to laugh, and had a delightful sense of humor. Someone once told him that he had such a great personality, they couldn't believe he was an accountant! Finally, Doug had a strong faith in Christ. He attended church regularly his whole life, did daily devotionals and Bible studies with Debi, and lived his faith every day in the integrity of his business dealings and the love he showed others. Doug is survived by his wife, Debi Pereboom, his sons Jeffrey and Chase Pereboom, and his brothers Victor and Gregg Pereboom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Elaine Pereboom, and his son Zach Gilman. His love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 18th at Life.Church (3061 State Road 7, Wellington, FL 33449). Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Doug’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Doug’s favorite charity, Samaritan’s Purse.
