David R. Turner

David Richmond Turner August 5, 1957 – February 19, 2017 David R. Turner passed peacefully from this life to be with our Lord at 59 years of age, at his home, surrounded by loving family. He was raised in Avon Lake, OH. After graduating from High School early, he served in the US Navy, seeing the world and making life-long friends. Upon return to Ohio, he managed a very successful gas station and car wash for Sohio. He began the practice of helping the handicapped, which became policy. He also was a successful realtor. Using his knowledge of building, he helped lead a project for Habitat for Humanity in Cleveland. Many of those homeowners are currently living in the same houses today. David began a family and moved to Florida. He started his own business in Housewatch. He led in his children's many activities including, scouting, sports, and the LDS Church. He had a generous spirit and charming personality, easily making friends, opening his home to others, and always helping someone in need. "Feed my sheep" was his motto. He began a battle with cancer in 2012. He met his wife, Lisa, who helped him keep a winning attitude. He was "strong like bull" and his friends called him Superman. He was proud of the treatment he received through the VA and lauded them in a short documentary about his health journey. David was loved by many and will be deeply missed. David was preceded in death by his mother, Julianne Turner, and his youngest sister, Alicia Leetch. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Brandon (Devin), Holly (Patrick Hensley), Justin (Katie), and Meagan (Mike Hilly); step children, Gabriel, Chantal, and Chelsea Pontbriand; Grandchildren, Adele, Dakota, Luke, and Patrick; father, Richard Turner; siblings Gail (Tom Kochis), Rob (Nancy), Daniel (Tammy McClanahan), Melissa (Gary Newbern), Marjorie (Jeff Harrison); and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 4:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6400 Roebuck Rd. Jupiter, FL 33458. He will be buried on March 6 at 10:45am at the South Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Habitat for Humanity.
