William R. Morton

January 27, 1931 - May 29, 2013

William R. Morton William R. Morton (Red), 82, passed away on May 29, 2013 at his home in Jupiter, FL. He was born on January 27, 1931 in Irvington, NJ to William and Beatrice Morton. Red graduated from Roxbury High School in Succasunna, NJ In 1948. After high school he attended Morristown Prep and Rutgers University where he excelled in football. He was President and owner of United Coated Fabrics Corp. in Rahway, NJ Until 1990. Red married Margaret McGuinness in 1958 in Metuchen, NJ and was happily married for 55 years. Red served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1951 and was in the Marine Reserves until 1959. He was a 56 year member of the American Legion, Post 65, in Metuchen, NJ. He was a long time member of Colonia Country Club in Colonia, NJ. and the West Palm Beach Country Club in West Palm Beach, FL. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and sports and he was a coach and President of the Metuchen Pop Warner Association for many years. He loved working with and helping all of his "kids". Red is survived by his wife Margaret Morton of Jupiter, FL; sister Jeanne Grogan (husband Al) of Doylestown, PA; daughters Dawn Rech of Apex, NC and Debbie Heal (husband James) of Dublin, CA; sons Glenn Morton (wife Cassie) of Metuchen, NJ and John Morton (wife Ellen) of Westminster, CO; and grandchildren Katie and Elizabeth Rech, Joanna McGuinness, Felicia Johnston, and Townsend Heal. Red was a great son, husband, brother and father and was considered a father figure to the many lives that he touched. He will be sorely missed!
