Ruth Kathleen Weatherdon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth K. Weatherdon left this temporal world to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her beloved family members on February 25th, 2013. She passed quietly from this world to the next at her home in Tequesta Florida. Ruth was born in Detroit, Michigan to Francis and Emily Broquet on August 4th, 1920. From an early age Ruth centered her life in church activities. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Detroit, MI. Ruth graduated from high school and went to work as a secretary for the detective division of the Detroit City Police Department. During this time she was active in the YMCA where she met James E. Weatherdon after World War II. They married in 1951 and she gave birth to three sons Scott, Brian and Randall. Migrating from Detroit area to South Florida in 1967, Ruth settled at Barnett Bank in Tequesta where she worked for twelve years as a receptionist and account representative retiring in 1987. Ruth loved her job and was even named Queen of the Bank, a title she cherished and often spoke of to her grandchildren. Once retired Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed summer vacations in Marquette, MI. with her grandchildren and many happy times with her sister Grace and Brother Len in Bay View Michigan. Ruth was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Cousin and was overwhelmingly proud of her family. She loved her boys and prayed for them daily. Ruth had eight grandchildren Lucas, Emily, Wendy, Matthew, Lindsay, John Paul, Michelle (Brian) and Ethan (Randall) Weatherdon and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Clarence, Perry, Reginald, Leonard and Grace as well as her grandson Lucas Weatherdon. They are all together now. Ruth never had the world credentials that we all think are important today. What she did have was kindness, gentleness, love and grace. She made this world a better place. If there ever was a person you would want to be like it was Ruth Weatherdon. We will miss her greatly. Enjoy your Lord and family up there Mom, we will see you soon. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life with us at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street Jupiter, FL. 33458, on Saturday March 2, 2013 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL.
