Randall, “Randy,” Fike went to be with the Lord in his home on April 24 in Tequesta, Florida succumbing to pancreatic cancer. He fought valiantly and was hopeful up to the end for healing but the Lord was ready for him to come home. Randy was born in Ottawa, Illinois June 1952 as the only son of Robert and Eloise Fike. He was an alumnus of Ottawa Township High School class of 1970 where he played basketball, was named MVP of the team his senior year, won the free throw shooting award and was a member of the National Honor Society. Randy was a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Architecture attending the University of Versailles his senior year as an exchange student and having the opportunity to travel throughout Europe to study architecture. Upon graduation he was hired at Gates Engineering and Architecture in Beckley, West Virginia where he met his wife of 43 years, Beth Thompson. Randy qualified for membership in The American Institute of Architects in 1982. Having lived in Colorado and West Virginia, Randy and his family relocated to Tequesta, Florida where they have lived for the past 35 years. He began his career in Florida as a project architect with The Lawrence Group Architects of Palm Beach and then transitioned to the building side of the industry as Superintendent and then Project Manager for local construction companies building high end homes from Palm Beach to Loblolly Pines in Martin County. Randy’s love of his family led to his involvement with his sons as a coach for the basketball program with JTAA for 13 years including the travel team and volunteering with the Awana Program as a leader of the boys group at First Baptist Church. His passion throughout his life was riding his Harleys with family and friends. From the hills of West Virginia to the mountains of Colorado and the flat lands of Florida, his favorite place to be was at the front of the pack of Harley riders hearing the roar of their engines as they raced down the high way. Family has always been so important to Randy and he will be so very missed by his wife, Beth Thompson Fike, sons, Troy and Ian Fike, daughter-in-law, Heather Woolley Fike, mother-in-law, Libby Thompson all of Jupiter/Tequesta, Florida, sister, Rhonda Jones and brother-in-law, John Jones of Chicago, Illinois, nephews, Dr. Nicholas Player, wife Erica, of Orlando, Florida, Dr. Kristopher Jones, wife Myriam, of Manhattan Beach, California, and niece, Kristen Jones of Chicago, Illinois and many other family and friends.
