August 29, 1929 - August 2, 2021
Surrounded by her loving family, Patricia A. Draz Glaser, 95, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on Monday, August 2nd, 2021, just short of her 96th birthday. Pat was born August 29, 1925 in the Bronx, New York to Lillian A. Gardiner and Louis K. Draz and grew up in Bronxville, New York. In 1943, she returned to New York after graduating from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. Her out-going personality positioned her well for her jobs in New York City, where she worked in the travel industry as a hotel representative. She married the love of her life, Warren D. Glaser, following his return from World War II where he served four years as a navigator and instructor for the Mighty 8th Army Air Corp. The couple were reassigned to Rapid City, South Dakota, during the Korean conflict and returned east to establish their home in Hartsdale, New York. Pat was a terrifically energetic mother of four children and an engaged and active participant in her church and volunteer activities. During this time she became an avid golfer, spending as much time as she could on the links at St. Andrews Golf Club, Hastings, New York. While they were members of St. Andrews, Pat and Warren took up the sport of Curling. She was a member of the Westchester Wicks and then the Senior Ladies International Curling Society (S.L.I.C.S.) and traveled up and down the East Coast for matches. After many years of summering in Groton Long Point, Connecticut, Pat found her permanent piece of paradise there. Nothing compared in happiness to the 20 years they were residents in GLP. They were snowbirds for many years before they moved permanently to Florida. In Florida, Pat served as President of Women’s Golf at Riverbend Country Club and continued golfing until she was 91. Pat and Warren continued their passion for travel throughout the United States and Europe, with each trip more satisfying than the last. Warren passed away in 2007. Pat continued her involvement at Riverbend and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Tequesta until her last move to Mangrove Bay in Jupiter. At Mangrove, she served on the Resident Council and enjoyed endless rounds of bridge. Always outgoing, smiling, looking her best and at the best in all that life had to offer, she leaves a huge space in our hearts. Her adoring family was her light, her beacon, her north star. She loved fiercely and played with a happy heart. She was a star at organizing talent shows, songfests, lobsterfests, and parties for her family. Nothing made her happier than the house bursting at the seams with all the family at GLP. Her face would light up with each new swimmer, each evening bike ride and every precious shell found by her grandchildren. She opened her heart, arms, and front door to all. Pat is survived by her loving children, Lynn and Jim Klar, Newtown, CT, Daniel and Debbie Glaser, Sandy Hook, CT, Jim and Ann Glaser, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and Joan and Rik Gordon, Dunedin, Florida, her grandchildren, Michael Klar, Casey Klar, Dale Glaser, Scott Glaser, Cory Glaser, Nikki Weeks, Amanda Glaser, Elizabeth Glaser Bamgbose, Colleen Glaser Fallon, Kimberly Gordon, and Carolyn Gordon and her amazing 10+ great-grands. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Friday, August 20th at 2 pm. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
