February 11, 1927 - November 30, 2018

Louise Cornish Creel of Tequesta, Florida, died at the age of 91 on November 30, 2018, at the Jupiter Medical Center, Jupiter, Florida. Louise Geldard Cornish was born on February 11, 1927, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to Raymond and Laura (Geldard) Cornish of Boston. She was a graduate of Colby-Sawyer College and, upon graduation, moved to Washington, D.C., where she pursued her career. She was a member of the staff of United States Senator Harry F. Byrd, Sr., of Virginia, and then worked for ten years as an Executive Assistant to the President of the United States Steel Corporation. In February 1961, she married Colonel George R. Creel, Jr., United States Army (deceased 2006) at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel, Arlington, Virginia, and accompanied him on tours for the Sixth Army of the Presidio of San Francisco and the Eighth United States Army, Seoul, Korea, before returning to the Washington, D.C. area in 1964. While in California and Korea, she was an active member of the Grey Ladies of the American Red Cross serving the United States Armed Forces. A resident of Tequesta, Florida, since 1987, she and her husband split their time between Florida and Southampton, New York, until 2005. Her prior residences and summer residences included Washington, D.C., Fairfax, Virginia, and Bethany Beach, Delaware. She was an active member of the Jupiter-Tequesta community and previously served as Chairman of the Arthritis Foundation of Jupiter and its annual event. Louise was an avid football fan, particularly of the Washington Redskins and both her husband and son’s alma mater, the Auburn University Tigers. A family service was held on Sunday, December 2nd at the Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home and was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Douglas Scharf, of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Tequesta. An internment at the Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a future date. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Karen and George R. Creel III, of Miami Beach, FL.
