George Maurer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

of Tequesta, FL and Fairway Mews, Spring Lake Heights, NJ passed away March 8, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of forty five years, Mary (Dean) Maurer; one brother, William of Brick, NJ; cousin, John of Edison, NJ and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, George and Hilda Maurer. He will be sorely missed by his beloved puppy, "Half-Pint". He was born in Somerville, NJ on July 23, 1939 and spent a happy childhood in Somerville and Sea Girt, NJ. He graduated from the Peddie School in Heightstown, NJ and Tufts University in Boston, MA. After his time in the Air Force Mr. Maurer worked for the Bank of NY, NY Life and Foster Wheeler Corp. He retired from Schering-Plough as Director of Management Information Systems. Mr. Maurer was a member of St. Uriels Episcopal Church, Sea Girt, NJ and The Church of the Good Shepherd, Tequesta, FL. He was a member of Spring Lake Golf Club, NJ and Tequesta Country Club, FL. George was an avid horse racing handicapper, he loved the New Jersey Boardwalk and the Jupiter beaches. Most recently he became an enthusiastic Marlin fan. A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 400 Seabrook Rd., Tequesta, FL. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 5-8 PM, Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center St., Jupiter, FL. Entombment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
