Francis J. Hagerty, Jr.

February 15, 1932 - February 8, 2011

Francis Joseph Hagerty Jr. Frank Hagerty, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Jupiter, FL on February 8, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Hagerty, and their three children, Kathleen Booth and her husband Jeff of Norwalk, Susan Morgan of West Palm Beach and Francis J Hagerty III and his wife Jane of Norwalk. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Ford of Ipswich, MA and five loving grandchildren; Katie Booth, Nora Hagerty, Sheila Hagerty, Francis J Hagerty IV and Amy Hagerty. Frank was born in Lynn, MA on February 15, 1932 to Francis and Mary Hagerty. His family moved from Dorchester to Melrose where he spent much of his childhood. He graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1949 and later joined the US Marine Corps in which he served proudly until returning to Merrimack College where he earned his bachelors’ degree. As was his nature, he started work the day after graduation and went on to have a successful business career in a variety of industries. He retired from Bankers Trust Company in 1992 and he and Kathleen moved from Norwalk, CT to Florida to enjoy the warmer weather. Up until last spring, his neighbors could count on his punctual arrival poolside to swim his daily laps. He enjoyed retirement immensely. In addition to serving as condo association president for a time, he and Kathleen continued to host weekly get-together for all their condo association members. Frank will be remembered for his quick wit, his warmth and his generosity. He was a hard working man who would make any sacrifice for the well-being of his family. We will miss him greatly. A service celebrating his life will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in 204 US Highway #1, Tequesta, FL 33469. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach 33407.
