Elizabeth Q. Gilbert

June 28, 1953 - January 30, 2015

Elizabeth Q. Gilbert, age 61 of North Palm Beach, FL, died on January 30, 2015 having lost her battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully in bed surrounded by loved ones. Elizabeth was born on June 28, 1953 in Charlotte, NC to Milbry Rustin and Luke Quinn. She is survived by her children, Thomas Gilbert and Erin Gilbert (Jesse Levier); her longtime companion of over a decade Ramon Llera; her brothers, Jerome Quinn (Norene Quinn) and Michael Quinn; and her sister Marianne Stevenson. She grew up in Decatur, GA and obtained her bachelor's in child psychology from Emory University and her master's in education from Rollins College. She moved to Palm Beach County in 1978 and dedicated her life to educating children, working as a first grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School for over 35 years. She had an overwhelming passion and joy for teaching and touched many lives over her long career. She believed that every child had the capacity for greatness and never gave up on a student. Elizabeth loved life, spending time with her family, and exploring the world. Having not crossed the Mason-Dixon border until she was 50, she spent the last 10 years traveling abroad. She was a creative spirit with a pure heart who found excitement in making new things and always had multiple ongoing projects. She was happiest when surrounded by family and those she loved most.
