Dr. Edward Hersey Dougherty, III of North Palm Beach, FL passed away on February 8, 2012. he is survived by his devoted wife Annie, Sons Sean (Deny) and Rhett, sister Patricia Lewis (Paul), brother Michael (Cindy) and two grand daughters. Born in Yonkers, NY, on July 30, 1946, Eddie was the eldest of four children, an avid junior golfer and graduate of Dobbs Ferry High School. At the age of 15 he found true love with his adoring wife Annie. They were married in 1968. Eddie graduated from Long Island university that same year and soon moved to Lexington, Kentucky, to pursue a PhD. in psychology. his love for Kentucky basketball stayed with him for the rest of his life. Eddie did his post doctoral work at the Children's Rehabilitation Unit at the University of Kansas Medical Center and established a private neuropsychology practice in West Palm Beach. Over the course of 25 years, many received his good counsel and expertise as a healing therapist, child advocate, educational advisor and family friend. Eddie was an avid runner and triathlete into his 50's, when an unfortunate accident left him unable to compete. In this phase of his life he cherished the gentle comfort of a devoted spouse, fellowship with his church family, long walks around his neighborhood, and traveling. he enjoyed his daily reading of the New York Times and on occasion reading aloud to his grand daughters who always seemed to find his lap. He taught us all that inner peace is a precious gift. He joins his brother David and father George under God's grace. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the First Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donator's choice in Eddie's memory. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, North palm Beach, Florida, at 10AM, Saturday, February 11, 2012.
