Carolyn H. Langan

Carolyn H. Langan, 92, long-time resident of West Hartford passed away Friday (November 30, 2018) after a short illness. Born in Lynbrook, New York to the late Gordon W. and Emma H. Rand, Carolyn graduated Summa Cum Laude from Adelphi University where she was a life-long member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Soon after completing her degree Carolyn met her loving husband of 52 years Richard F. Langan while both working at AT&T in Manhattan, New York. A Matriarch in the truest sense, Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and was a loving guiding force until the end. Carolyn is survived by two daughters, Adrienne Malinowski and Grace Anne Inkel, both of South Windsor; and three sons, Richard C. Langan and his wife Karen of Southington, Gordon F. Langan of Altmar, NY, and John Langan of Cheshire. She also held great love and affection for her three grandchildren; Michelle Malinowski and Joshua and Gabrielle Inkel; sister-in-law Marilyn Ballard of West Hartford, cousin Sue Wendt of Dade City Florida, niece Karen Santana and her husband Walter of Wethersfield and nephew Gary Rand, his wife Anne and their children Emily and Steven of Redding, Massachusetts. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Richard F. Langan and brother Edward Rand of West Hartford. The Langan Family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the loving, caring staff at The Reservoir as well as the caregivers from Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care who helped guide Carolyn through her last days. We would also like to thank the many people and home health organizations that enabled Carolyn to remain in her home throughout her final years. Special thanks to “Keep Me Home” as well as Carolyn’s home healthcare coordinator Mary Fuller. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on December 7, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford. Remembrances will be shared at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at The Connecticut Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown.
