William David Vogelsong

William David Vogelsong, lovingly known as Billy, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the age of 72, held in the arms of his daughter and surrounded by love. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Billy was one of seven siblings raised in a lively, loving, close-knit home. He was the beloved son of Edward Vogelsong and Virginia Walsh, and the cherished brother of Tom, Jim, Susan, Sharon, Ed, and Chris. His family was the foundation of his life — a source of deep pride and unwavering connection. Billy was a proud graduate of Ewing High School (’71) and later moved to South Florida and earned his BS degree in Geology and Earth Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. He built a remarkable 33-year career as a Principal Hydrogeologist at Arcadis, where he was deeply respected for his work ethic, expertise, and mentorship. He retired in 2021 and settled in the beautiful community of Frenchman’s Landing, where he enjoyed a well-earned chapter of life of sunrises, sea breezes, and the peaceful rhythm of coastal living in West Palm Beach. But the role he cherished most was being a father. Billy’s greatest joy was his daughter, Taylor — his best friend, his pride, his whole heart. He would constantly talk about how much he admired and enjoyed watching her grow into the woman, wife, and mother she became. His love only grew from from his son-in-law Ryan and when he became “Pop” to his two treasured grandchildren, Carter (3) and Jaxon (10 months). The memories he shared with them was nothing short of magic, spending time together as a family filled his days pure happiness. Billy found his true love and soulmate from his favorite family member, his Golden Retriever named Otis. Anyone who knew Billy, knew Otis. They were a package deal. Billy and Otis were truly made for each other and shared a very special bond together that everyone could see. A passionate outdoorsman, Billy found his greatest joy on the water. Whether casting his fishing line from shore or heading out on his boat, the ocean was his sanctuary. He shared his love of nature, travel, and adventure with family and friends through unforgettable fishing trips to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Belize, Jamaica, Canada, the Bahamas, and of course to all his secret spots in Florida. His strength, warmth, sense of humor, generosity, and storytelling will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Billy’s life will be planned in the coming months. Details regarding the date, time, and location will be shared by his daughter, Taylor Vogelsong Stang. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Billy’s honor to a cancer research organization of your choice.
