Pamela Joy Campbell

Pamela Joy Campbell (February 6, 1955 – September 1, 2026) Pamela Joy Campbell, lovingly known as “Pammie,” passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 71. Originally from Bloemfontein, South Africa, Pam made the courageous decision in 1994 to move to Jupiter, Florida, with her two children, Gida and Jarrett, to begin a new chapter of their lives together. Jupiter became home, but South Africa and the many lifelong friendships she maintained there always remained an important part of who she was. Pam was the daughter of the late Gladys von Abo (née Thackwray) and William von Abo, and sister to the late Dennis and Wray. Having lost her father at a young age, Pam shared an especially close bond with her mother, affectionately known to the entire family as Oumie. For more than 20 years, Pam served as Chief Financial Officer of the Gary Player Group, building a successful career in the golf industry that ultimately brought her and her family to the United States. She was intelligent, capable, glamorous and fiercely independent. She had style, confidence and an unmistakable presence… the kind of person people noticed when she entered a room and remembered long after she left it. Life brought changes in later years, and with them came a softer side of Pam. The strength and spirit that had always defined her remained, but they were joined by a gentleness that became especially evident in the way she loved her family. Of all the roles she held throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a mother and “Granny.” Pam dedicated her life to her children, and so much of what she did was driven by her love for Gida and Jarrett and her desire to give them the best life she could. In time, that devotion extended just as completely to her four grandchildren: Ainslee, Dane, Cait and Eeva. For more than two decades, Pam lived with Gida, Chandler and their family; with Jarrett, Amanda and their family just a few houses away. It meant that she wasn't simply a grandmother who visited; she was part of the fabric of her grandchildren's everyday lives. She picked them up from school, shared in their routines, watched them grow, celebrated their milestones and had the rare gift of being present for so many of the ordinary moments. Pam also had an extraordinary ability to make an impression. She had a large circle of friends spanning South Africa and the United States and continued making new friendships throughout her life. In recent years, she found a particularly fun new social circle, whose regular restaurant outings and get-togethers became affectionately known as the “Granny Group.” In her younger years, Pam was a wonderful hostess who loved entertaining and bringing people together. She enjoyed a beautiful home, good company and the pleasure of having people around her. In later years, some of her favorite pleasures became simpler ones: getting her nails done, playing Solitaire and Scrabble on her phone, picking up her grandchildren from school, and enjoying a good curry – her favorite! Pam is survived by her daughter, Gida, and son-in-law, Chandler; her son, Jarrett, and daughter-in-law, Amanda; and her beloved grandchildren, Ainslee, Dane, Cait and Eeva. She also leaves behind a wonderful collection of friends and loved ones on two continents whose lives were touched by her friendship, strength, warmth and unmistakable presence. Pam lived a life defined by resilience, independence and, above all, devotion to her family. She gave enormously of herself to the people she loved. Her greatest legacy is not found in a career or accomplishment, but in the children she raised, the grandchildren she adored, and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered as our Pammie.
