Mary Imle

Mary Imle was born on September 3, 1927, in Dongola, Illinois, to Arthur B. and Grace Bourland McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brent, her husband Albert R. Imle, and her brother Delbert D. McGee. Mary and Al moved to Jonathan’s Landing in Jupiter in 1980. She began volunteering at Jupiter Medical Center in February 1981 and served in nearly every department for over 40 years, including managing the gift shop. She chaired the Annual Hospital Ball in 1984 and contributed to numerous committees at Jupiter Medical Center, earning recognition as a local “Hometown Hero.” Mary also volunteered at the Lighthouse Art Center beginning in 1983 and continued for many years. She chaired the Beaux Arts Ball, served on multiple committees, and held positions on the Board of Directors and as President of the Foundation. Her commitment to community service extended well beyond these organizations. She chaired the Home Delivered Meals committee for the Church of the Good Shepherd for many years and participated in several committees and volunteer activities at Mangrove Bay, where she spent the final years of her life. Her family later learned that she was still helping others on the very day she passed on Saturday, June 13. Those who knew Mary recognized her generous spirit and lifelong dedication to service. She was honored to receive the first Volunteer Service Award from Jonathan’s Landing and the Alice Risso Award from the Jupiter Medical Center Auxiliary. Mary is survived by her daughter, Grace Wasko, her son‑in‑law, Gary Wasko, and her three grandchildren: Lisa Wasko DeVetter and her husband, David DeVetter; Jason Wasko and his former wife, Guillermina Rodriguez‑Barreto; and Kristie Wasko Mutapčić and her husband, Ermin Mutapčić. She was also blessed with four great‑grandchildren: Robin Dawn DeVetter, Giovani Rodriguez‑Wasko, Angel Noe Rodriguez‑Barreto, and Gerardo Urbina‑Rodriguez. Her nephews Delbert McGee and his wife Pam, Donald McGee and his wife Sherri, Dusty McGee and his wife Annie, and Dean McGee also survive her. In her later years, she found companionship with Frank Harris, who passed in 2020, and with Paul Holtzman. She valued these relationships and the extended family they brought into her life. Mary also treasured many friendships, including those with her sister‑in‑law Beth McGee and Ruth Anne Hess. Mary had a special fondness for dogs and was known for keeping treats on hand for her canine visitors. Her two Maltese, Sir Winston and Eliza Dolittle, were a constant source of joy. Mary will be deeply missed by many. Her life of service, generosity, passion, and kindness remains an inspiration to all who knew her.
