Kathleen Louise Gerardi Kathleen Louise (Rice) Gerardi, 73, died peacefully surrounded by her family on April 2, 2016 in Jupiter, Fl. Kathy was born on May 19th, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, daughter to the late Herbert C & Ethel A Rice. She will be missed by her beloved husband of 54 yrs, Michael J Gerardi, of Dayville, CT and Jupiter, FL. She is survived by her children, Michele Fall & husband Michael, from Suffield, CT; Mark Gerardi & wife Suzanne from Nantucket, MA; and Amy Reutter & husband Brook from Tulsa, OK. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Jessica, Nathan & Sarah Fall; Evan, Sophie & Hannah Gerardi; Jordan, Kara & Emily Reutter. Kathy grew up in Stamford, CT then moved to Willimantic, CT where she graduated from E.O. Smith High School in Storrs, CT. She worked as a secretary for the family owned Nutmeg Broadcasting Co. at radio stations WILI in Willimantic and WINY in Putman, CT where she met the love of her life, "Mike G." Married on July 4th, 1961, she devoted her life to her husband and 3 children. Not only was Kathy the model homemaker and compassionate mother; she was a strong partner with Mike as they purchased WINY and operated the Gerardi Broadcasting Corp. in Putnam. Her deep faith in God gave her an interior life that brought joy to all that she did. She served her family and friends with humility and love. Kathy enjoyed reading, Bible studies, quilting, sewing, digging in the garden, and creating in the kitchen. She was an active member of the Catholic parishes of St. Peter in Jupiter, FL and St. Joseph in Dayville, CT. Her eyes were always open to the beauty of nature and to the value of every precious person she met. Kathy is also survived bye her brothers Michael Rice (Carol) of Mansfield, CT, and Colin Rice (Loretta) of Lebanon, CT, and sisters Sheryl Leone (Tony) of Southington, CT, Corrine Bock (Larry) of Vernon, CT and Robin Rice-Nardi (Jack) of Mansfield, Ctr, CT. Kathy also leaves behind many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements by Taylor and Modeen, Jupiter, FL and a Catholic Mass celebrated at St Peter Chapel on Monday April 11th, 2016 at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Kathy's memory be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Jupiter, FL.
