Jay Howard Fisher

Jay Howard Fisher, 95, of Tequesta, Florida passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Born August 10,1927, in Brooklyn, New York, he was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Mildred Fisher, his sister Rosalind Epstein, his son Andrew Steven Fisher, and his son-in-law Francisco José Serrano Rodríguez. He is survived by his daughter Gwen Allison Fisher and his son Russell Jerome Fisher; his step-daughter Lori Zamora: his daughter-in-law Donna Fisher; his brother-in-law Ernest “Chic” Paluzzi and his wife Barbara. He was the loving “Pop” to six grandchildren; Elisa Ann and Eduardo Jay Serrano Fisher and his wife Samantha Marie Serrano; Jacklyn and Justin Zamora, and Sarah and Jared Fisher. He is also survived by his precious great-grandsons Ryan Alexander and Jayden Thomas Serrano. Jay was a veteran of foreign wars WWII; Army in 1945 and later became the Administrator of the Putnam Weaver Nursing Home. He was a committed volunteer fireman for the Pound Ridge Fire Department for many years where he served as their beloved chief from 1968 -1971 an accomplishment that he was very proud of. Once Jay retired, he was dedicated to his beloved wife until her passing, family including his dogs, interests and hobbies. Jay was never bored. He was an avid reader and through this passion he gained much knowledge and wisdom that was enhanced by his many life experiences. He was always quick to share this with us all whether we wanted to hear or not. He had a love for music which he nurtured all his life and found much comfort even during his illness. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and trapshooting. He loved cooking and often surprised his wife with one of his newest creations. Visits with his brother-in-law, Chic, were often spent in the kitchen where they bonded and shared not only their love for cooking but a good bottle of wine. Also, needlepoint became a favorite and his masterpieces are proudly displayed in his home. Jay will be remembered as a kind and respectful man who preferred to be surrounded by family and a few good friends than many acquaintances. He was strong willed and worked through life´s hardships stoically which he demonstrated right up to his last breath. He often borrowed Harry Truman’s quote, “The buck stops here.” to resolve issues. He was an example for all. No matter how you knew him; Jay, Dad, or Pop he stayed true to himself and strived to be there for each one of us. He will live on in our hearts.
