Janet Fontanarosa Colombo Casale

Janet Fontanarosa Colombo Casale went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2021. On August 5, 1939, she was born in New Rochelle, New York, to Nick Fontanarosa and Ida Colombo. She was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet was the youngest of four daughters and is survived by her two older sisters, Connie Barone and Ann Gibbons. Her sister Elaine Amato predeceased Janet. Janet was previously married to Robert Colasurdo and had four children: Robbie, Garry, Douglas, and Chrissy. Janet and Bob raised their children in Greenwich, Connecticut. Garry predeceased his mother in 2013. In 1994, she married James L Casale. They moved to Florida in 2002 and settled in northern Palm Beach County. Janet was a patriot who loved her country. She was a devoted and passionate parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palm Beach Gardens and St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta. She lived her faith and believed passionately in helping and serving others by volunteering for her church and local organizations. Janet participated in church ministries, including the food pantry, bible studies, and the shawl ministry. The shawl ministry crocheted prayer shawls that were donated to local hospital patients. As a parishioner of St. Jude's, she was delighted and honored to be in the rosary ministry making rosary prayer beads and donating them. The Renewal Coalition of Jupiter, which serves veterans across the country with free weekends and activities, benefited from her service to her country and community. She volunteered to serve breakfasts one Sunday a month for the past seven years. Janet was also a proud member and volunteer for the Perry Como Lodge #2876 Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. Janet was primarily devoted to her four grandchildren Charlie Colasurdo, Kieran Colasurdo, Jack, Colasurdo, and Nicholas Colasurdo. She was so proud of them and their many accomplishments. They lit up her life. Her nieces and nephews, cousins, and daughters-in-law, Holly Colasurdo and Christie Colasurdo, will miss her. All will be comforted by knowing that our merciful God has taken her home to be with her beloved son Garry, her sister Elaine, and her parents. A memorial service was held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, Florida, on September 17, 2021. The family has requested that donations be made in Janet's name to the Perry Como Lodge #2876 Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America PO Box 4436 Tequesta, Florida 33469.
