Obituary for Frank “Scotty” Henley – A Life Built on the Water and Lived with Heart With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Frank “Scotty” Henley, a visionary entrepreneur, master boat builder of Venture and Bahama Boats, and cherished family man. Scotty left this world as he lived it—fully and freely, surrounded by the elements he loved most: the sea, the outdoors, and the people closest to his heart. Born in California and raised in Tequesta on Florida’s East Coast, Scotty had salt in his veins and an unyielding passion for the Atlantic Ocean. A true outdoorsman—outgoing, athletic, fearless, and endlessly curious—he embraced every adventure with gusto. From countless fishing trips and tournaments to hunting expeditions and flight excursions, Scotty lived life full throttle, with a heart as vast as the horizon. To know him was to experience laughter, generosity, wild stories, and unwavering loyalty. Scotty’s craftsmanship and love for the ocean transformed dreams into reality for countless adventurers. He carved a lasting legacy in the marine industry, building custom boats with precision, innovation, and a deep respect for the sea. Whether designing groundbreaking marine creations, crafting custom pole spears, or navigating the turquoise channels of the islands, he did so with purpose and passion. Scotty didn’t just build boats—he built experiences, communities, and lifelong friendships, all with a heart as boundless as the ocean. A true son of Florida, Scotty cherished its coasts, culture, and people. He was never more at peace than at the helm, with the wind in his hair, the sun on his face, and the open horizon ahead. Yet his greatest treasures were the bonds he forged on land with lifelong friends and his loving family. Scotty is survived by his devoted son, Connor, son of Kellie Henley Runsdorf, who will carry forward his father’s adventurous spirit and gentle strength. He leaves behind his beloved sister, Catherine Wilson, with whom he shared a deep bond, and his cherished nieces, Kathleen and Alex. His adored partner and soulmate, Sharon, will forever hold dear their countless beautiful memories. Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty Henley. A Celebration of Scotty’s Life will be an open-house held at Lady Jean Ranch Inc. on Friday August 8 th anytime between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, raise a glass, and honor a life well-lived. Scotty will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always felt wherever the waves meet the shore. Fair winds and following seas, Scotty.
