DOROTHY FALVEY VAN KEUREN Dorothy “Dottie” (Falvey) Van Keuren, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022, in Jupiter, Florida. Born on March 21, 1934, the oldest of 12 children of Edmund and Nellie Falvey of Worcester, Massachusetts, Dottie graduated from Ascension High School in Worcester, and was a secretary for Paul Revere Insurance Company. In 1959, she married William C. “Bill” Van Keuren and the couple relocated to Vernon, Connecticut where they began raising their family of six children. In 1976 the family relocated to Tequesta, Florida where she lived the rest of her life. Dottie is predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Bill. She is survived by her children William D. and Alexandra Van Keuren (daughter Elizabeth), Peter S. and Kimberly Van Keuren (daughter Lindsay and son Steven, granddaughter Miller), Robert S. and Sandra Van Keuren (sons Christopher, Matthew and Aaron, grandchildren Jackson, Hudson, Sawyer, and Tanner), Susan F. and David Parrish (sons David and Thomas), Debra L. and Robert Gassaway (sons Michael and Adam, grandson Jacob) and James C. and Monique Van Keuren (son Caleb). She also leaves behind her three remaining siblings Carol Fraini, David Falvey, and Sharon Falvey, all of Massachusetts. Dottie was a devoted member of the Catholic Church her whole life and a member of St. Jude’s parish in Tequesta, FL for 46 years. Dottie enjoyed many hobbies in her lifetime. As part of a weekly sewing group, she used her artistic talents to create beautiful pieces through sewing, quilting, jewelry-making and counted cross stitch embroidery (her specialty). She was also an avid reader and movie-goer, enjoying new films every week with her very good friend Carol, for many years. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Bill. The two visited many countries after his retirement in 1993, and through their travels she was able to visit the homeland of her ancestors to kiss the Blarney Stone. Always wanting to create lifetime memories with their family, Dottie and Bill also hosted two week-long Caribbean cruises with their children and their families through the years. Dottie will be missed by all fortunate enough to know her. She was a great wife, mother and friend with a quick wit, a generous heart and a sweet smile. The family gives our undying gratitude to Steven, Janet, Belinda and Mirope who all enriched Mom’s life with the friendship, peace and comfort she needed to make her truly happy in her final months on Earth. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27th, at Taylor-Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter, FL. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 28th, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Tequesta, followed by burial at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
