Dorothy Jean Ganey A Most Blessed Life February 06, 1936 – May 31, 2025 Dorothy J. Ganey (89), longtime resident of Pensacola, Cantonment and, recently Jupiter, Florida departed this life on May 31, 2025. Dorothy was born in Nauvoo, Alabama to Elzo and Vera McGough. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Hugh McGough. Dorothy’s great life chapter was with her husband Loyd R. Ganey, Sr. (01DEC1928-06SEP2014) who was her sweetheart and companion, and together they lived a very memorable marriage for 64 years. Dorothy is survived by her sisters – Bobbie Hill and Shelva-Ann Womack. Other survivors include – son, Loyd R. Jr. (Gerlinde); son, Terry L. Ganey (Monika); daughter, Teresa A. Tatum (Mark); son, Alan C. Ganey (Kris); eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Dorothy was married at a very early age (14) and wandered the face of the earth with Dad and the US Army for 23 years. Dorothy received her college degree in business from Pensacola Junior College, and Dorothy and Loyd became real-estate brokers owning and operating Advanced Realty Concepts for 15 years in Pensacola. After retiring 100% Dorothy and Loyd went RV’ing for twelve years, from Florida to Alaska spending summers reeling in big sockeye red salmon. Dorothy was a true believer in that faith without works is dead. Dorothy was an avid teacher, throughout her life, in Bible classes for children and ladies’ groups. She helped to establish congregations both domestically and internationally and served as a missionary in Guyana. A true servant leader for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched and who were endeared to her caring and loving spirit. The family would like to thank the supportive professional caregivers at La Posada Palm Beach Gardens, and the wonderful people of Trustbridge Hospice who gave their hearts for the great care of Dorothy. A celebration/memorial of Dorothy’s life and Interment service will be held at 9:30AM June 20, 2025 at Barrancas National Cemetery Naval Air Station, 1 Cemetery Road Pensacola, FL.
