Delia Roman

Delia Roman (Betancourt) passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the age of 97 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on February 6, 1928 to Jesus Betancourt and Laura Viera. Delia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pablo A. Roman, her stepson, Paul Roman (Kris), her son, Edgar J. Roman (Carmen) and her grandson Alex Roman. She was cheerfully known as Mami, Ma, Mom, Grandma, and Gma by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Angel Roman (Elizabeth), her daughter, Carmen Taylor (Graham) and stepdaughter, Magda Berrios (Michael). She and her husband were blessed with 11 grandchildren; Michael Berrios (Karen), Cynthia Carbon (Julio), Jennette Gildea (Kevin), Adam Roman (Sandrea), Erik Roman (Billie), Felipe Quinones (Cristina), Jordan Roman (Jennifer), William Taylor (Britney), Jessica Duggan (Ryan) and Erica Ginn (Zach). She was also gifted by our Lord with 22 wonderful great grandchildren! Delia and her husband left Puerto Rico and settled in Brooklyn, New York and married at All Saints Catholic Church on October 10, 1947. They happily raised and nurtured their children there for over 50 years. They eventually left New York and settled in Coral Springs, Florida for over 12 years, eventually moving to Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Delia was a dedicated homemaker whose priority was her family and above all her love and commitment to our Lord. She absolutely loved to sing and could be heard throughout the house as she happily tended to her home and family. Her sense of humor and cackling laugh helped to define her. Above all, she was truly the most giving, kindest and happy soul ever. Delia was the glue that kept her large family happy and together. Her motto was “be happy not cranky”! Words are not enough to express how she will be greatly missed by her family but who will be solaced while living on in our hearts and minds with everlasting memories. A jubilant celebration of her life will be held at Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home located at 250 Center Street in Jupiter, Florida on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 14, 2025 celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Church, 13591 Prosperity Farms Road in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd. in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
