Carol Light

CAROL LIGHT Carol Light, of Jupiter, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was 82. Carol was born in Newhall, West Virginia, to Ethel Brewer and Jessie Gentry and grew up in Virginia and Maryland. At Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland, she met Ronald Keith Light, and the couple was married on December 21, 1955. Carol was happy to remain a nurturing stay-at-home mother until the younger of her two children was in high school, at which time she earned a Connecticut Real Estate license. She excelled in home sales for 12 years, winning top-selling Realtor™ in her office for many of those years and Realtor of the Year in her district for several. During this time she enjoyed frequent trips to Europe and Asia with her husband. In 1991, the Lights relocated to Jupiter. Carol worked for a time as a volunteer for the Martin County Sheriff's Office before retiring. Carol was an active member of the Jupiter/Tequesta Orchid Society, growing and sharing many award-winning orchids. She was also a creative, prolific quilter, gifting her intricate, colorful quilts to family members and friends. She was a proponent of vigorous exercise and healthy eating, attending exercise classes well into her 70s. But Carol's favorite retirement activity was doting on her two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua, who will forever miss her after-breakfast milkshakes and never-ending supply of M&Ms. Carol is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Ronald Keith Light, 84, of Jupiter; daughter Carol Pickersgill (Les), 64, of Palm Beach Gardens; son Ronald Keith Light, Jr. (Dawn), 57, of Viera, Florida; grandsons Jacob Albert, 20, and Joshua Blake, 14, of Viera; brother Wilmer Ronald Gentry, 84, of Ephrata, PA; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol will be remembered as a loving, kind, generous person, quick to help or share a laugh. She had a true love of God, and a beautiful beaming smile that lit up every room she entered. She was adored by her family and loved by her friends. A celebration of life will be held at Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, prior to private inurnment at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
