Barbara Freels Fraser

Barbara F. Fraser, 74, of Jupiter, FL passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025. Barbara was born on February 10th, in Portsmouth, VA, to parents Theodore and Edna Freels. Barbara was one of three daughters and was the middle child to her older sister Diana and her younger sister, Janet. Theodore was in the Navy, requiring the family to travel extensively. Eventually, the family would settle in Florida, first moving to Belle Glade and then, finally, in the West Palm Beach area. Barbara attended and graduated from North Shore High School in West Palm Beach, FL. She would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree from Palm Beach Atlantic College. After high school, Barbara went to work at Pratt & Whitney where she met her husband, Donald. In 1972, the two were married and by 1975, they welcomed their only daughter, Kim, to their blended family. Their family included Barbara’s three stepchildren, Donald, Kathy and Debbie, whom she also lovingly raised from a young age. In addition to being a wife and mother, Barbara enjoyed a long, successful 37-year career at Pratt & Whitney. She started out as a typist, in a clerical position, working her way up the ladder to eventually become the head of the Quality Control Department. Barbara accomplished much as a woman in a male-dominated industry. Outside of her work, Barbara enjoyed Bowling and traveling with her husband, Donald. Her favorite trip was the Mediterranean cruise they took, visiting Italy. Barbara loved Italy so much that she returned a second time. And, after retiring, Barbara also enjoyed participating in the Pratt & Whitney’s Retiree Club. Barbara was a devoted Mother, Aunt and Grandmother to her nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to the family getting together during the holidays, especially at Christmas. Barbara was a kind, giving and generous person who never hesitated to help those in need. She will be deeply missed. Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents, Theodore and Edna Freels, her husband Donald Fraser and her sister Diana. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Fraser Walesch; her grandchildren, Ricky Walesch, Karlee Walesch, Troy Schooley (Jessica), Travis Schooley (Jacalyn), Kacey Russo, Carson Russo, Chase Russo, Matthew Fraser, and Cameron Fraser; her three great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet Spears; and her beloved nieces and nephew. A Visitation celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 19th, from 12:00pm-2:30pm, at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, in Jupiter, FL. The burial will directly follow at Riverside Memorial Park, in Tequesta, FL, at 3:00pm.
