Audrey G. Johnson

Audrey G. Johnson, 97, passed away on April 30, 2026, when she was joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Thomas H. “Red” Johnson, Sr., her son William E. Johnson (Laura), her mother Rose C. Grammes, her father Cyril “Cy” Grammes, and her sister Marilyn Wood. She is survived by her sons Thomas H. Johnson, Jr., Joseph R. Johnson, Robert L. Johnson (Alesia), and John W. Johnson; her grandchildren Robert “Burr” Johnson (Shelby), Christopher Johnson, Julianne Black (Billy), Ashley Johnson, Caroline DeSalis (Xavier), Austin Johnson, Brooke Mooney (Sean), and Dane Johnson; and her great-grandchildren William Black, Brody Black, and Ella Black. Behind every great family is an amazing woman, and Audrey was that steady, loving force for the Johnson family. She was instrumental in the success of her husband, Thomas “Red” Johnson, Sr., an attorney who served Palm Beach County as State Attorney, as a Florida State Senator, and as a Palm Beach County Circuit Court Judge until his retirement. While supporting his distinguished public service career, Audrey calmly managed the lively chaos of raising five boys—all born one year apart—guiding and nurturing them with patience, wisdom, and unwavering love into the successful men they became. To her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Grammy,” and she adored every one of them with her whole heart. Grammy was an amazing gift to family and friends, and as an avid international traveler and gymgoer well into her nineties, a constant inspiration to those fortunate enough to know her. She was also a savvy businesswoman who owned and managed various properties. Although she lived a remarkable 97 years, the inescapable feeling is that she was taken from us too soon. Her family will miss her deeply but will forever cherish her as an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. We are confident that Grammy will continue to watch over family and friends from heaven, providing them with protection, health, and happiness. A private graveside service has been held and a Catholic Mass followed by a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of Alzheimer’s research and family care.
