Valerie Jean Coulom

Valerie Jean Coulom, age 59, died on Saturday, July 4, 2015 after a long illness. Valerie was born on September 15, 1955 in Hartford, Connecticut, and was the third child of Barbara (Peoples) Papa and Frank F. Coulom. Valerie was extremely caring of her family and enjoyed the company of her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and many friends. Valerie did not hesitate to tell others what she thought, and to seek to correct unfairness or misunderstandings. She would work tirelessly for you if you needed help and she could easily make others laugh. Valerie enjoyed music and loved to sing "oldies", preferably with her siblings. Valerie was survived by her longtime companion, Glen Bishop of Indianapolis, Indiana. Valerie and Glen loved to travel and go to the opera. Valerie also is survived by her mother Barbara (Peoples) Papa and stepfather Sebastian Papa of Newington, Connecticut, her father Frank F. Coulom and stepmother, Gloria B. Coulom of Boxborough, Massachusetts, her sister Gail Coulom of Glastonbury, CT, her brother Frank F. Coulom, Jr. of Hartford, Connecticut, her brother Daniel P. Coulom and sister-in-law, Kathleen Coulom of Charlotte, North Carolina, her sister Katherine A. Scanlon and brother- in- law Robert Scanlon of West Hartford, Connecticut her sister-in-law Laurie Coulom of West Hartford, her niece Kelly Coulom of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her nephew Frankie Coulom of Boston, Massachusetts, her nephew Michael Coulom of West Hartford, Connecticut, her nephew Kyle Coulom of Charlotte, North Carolina, her nephew Daniel Coulom of Houston, Texas, her niece Nancy Scanlon of West Hartford, Connecticut her niece Lisa Scanlon of West Hartford, Connecticut and her nephew Bobby Scanlon of West Hartford, Connecticut , her stepbrother Robert Manning of West Hartford, Connecticut, her stepsister Patricia Stacy of Bethany, Connecticut, her stepsister Lynn Nixon of Boxborough Massachusetts, her stepsister Lisa Nielsen of Stow, Massachusetts, her stepsister Barbara Papa Cavallo, of Plainville, Connecticut, her stepsister Sue Papa of Berlin, Connecticut, her stepsister Laura Papa Sataline of New Britain, Connecticut. Valerie is also survived by her life-long friend, Janice Sacco MacDonald of Plantsville, Connecticut, as well as her uncle Paul Peoples of Niantic, Connecticut, her uncle Richard Peoples of East Hampton, Connecticut, her aunt Maureen Peoples of East Hampton, Connecticut, her aunt Lois Daly of East Windsor, Connecticut, aunt Susan Hallowell of Manchester, Connecticut, her uncle William Peoples of Essex, Connecticut, and numerous cousins.
