Mildred (Terrill) Spillane

Mildred Terrill Spillane died August 4, 2012 in Winchester, CT. She was born April 22, 1912 in Collinsville, CT to the late Flora Harriet Nadeau and Whitman Earl Terrill. She married Julius "Ted" Spillane in 1933 and they lived in West Hartford, CT until 1969 when they retired to Littleton, NH where they lived together until his death in 1997. In 2000, Mil moved from Littleton to Chapel Hill (and Durham), NC where she lived with family. She was a loving and energetic wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great grandma who will be missed by all her large family and friends. She was predeceased by her infant son, Whitman Earl, her brothers, Melvin Terrill and Ferrin Terrill, and her sister, Eleanor Terrill. Mrs. Spillane leaves four children: Beverly Spillane Hunter and her husband, Stuart of Ft Myers Beach, FL; Lowell T. Spillane and his wife, Susan of Sanibel, FL and Shelburne, VT; Robert W. Spillane and his wife, Cheryl of Winchester, CT and Littleton, NH, and Wendy Spillane Pease and her husband, James C. Pease of Durham, NC. She also leaves behind her precious sixteen grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. Mil was always involved in her community and her church. She was a member for many years of Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford, CT and then a member of First Congregational Church in Littleton in her retirement. She held a variety of volunteer leadership positions and always enjoyed the friendships she made while actively participating in the various women's groups. She loved to knit, read and share her books, and was an enthusiastic fan of "her" New England sports teams. Her family and friends will celebrate her life at a memorial service at Immanuel Congregational Church, 10 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. The Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in West Hartford, CT is in charge of arrangements.
