Mary Alice (DiBiasio) Julian

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mary Alice (DiBiasio) Julian, 93, of West Hartford, CT. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on May 17, 2017. Mary was born in Unionville, CT and raised in Farmington, CT. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, James J. Julian; her parents, Tomasina and Sebastiano DiBiasio; and her brothers, Peter and Anthony. She is also predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Mim and Mary, and their husbands Ed and John. Mary was a graduate of Farmington High School and the Hartford Secretarial School. She began her professional career working for several prominent doctors in the Hartford area before having children and deciding to dedicate herself to their upbringing. Later, when they were entering college, she returned to the workforce and flourished as an assistant to the Directors of The Hartford Conservatory of Music and the Consumer Credit Counseling Association of Central Connecticut. Mary loved to make people happy. She was at her best when she was cooking and baking as a prelude to entertaining. Family was first, and there were so many gatherings, but her grandchildren held the most precious place in her heart. Her neighbors were her close friends. When Jim and she retired, they took to traveling the world, bringing back to their family stories of their adventures and new friends made. Later, when they settled down, they became loyal fans of the hometown Huskies basketball teams and the Red Sox. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and her husband Larry Amarucci of Wethersfield, CT and their sons, Scott and Kevin; and her son, Kenneth, and his wife, Christine of Kensington, CT and their daughters, Laura and Rachel. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa, and brother-in-law, Robert Seravalli; her sister-in-law, Adele DiBiasio; and her sister-in-law, Anne (Julian) Kilby and her husband, Richard. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Kathy Follo. The family offers special thanks and appreciation to the individual in-home caregivers, and the team at The Atrium of Rocky Hill who helped to maintain Mary's last years with quality and dignity. Calling hours will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT on Friday, May 19. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of St. Helena, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
