Marion H. Jones

Marion H. Jones, of 14 Brian Road, West Hartford, Connecticut passed away April 5, 2012 after a brief illness, and just two months after the death of her late husband, Malcolm K. Jones. Born in Methuen, Massachusetts on December 28, 1920, Marion met her husband at age 16 and a relationship began which would endure for the remainder of her life as his loving partner and wife. Forever by his side, and as dedicated as he to his life as a teacher at Kingswood School, Marion was an active participant in his school related activities. Full of energy and in constant motion, Marion gave her full commitment to raising her two sons, while also working for over twenty years as the secretary/bookkeeper for Pine Island Camp, Belgrade Lakes, Maine, which maintained its winter offices in West Hartford, CT. Displaying her ability to manage unusual and demanding situations in her position for Pine Island Camp, Marion performed secretarial duties, ordered all food and prepared all menus and controlled the finances for this unique summer boys camp, at which she and her husband spent many happy and rewarding summers. After leaving the camp position, Marion began work at the American Automobile Association office in West Hartford, CT from which she retired after a number of years. Marion's greatest pleasure was found in the company of her family, of which she was most proud, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her. Together with Malcolm, she was a constant presence in her grandchildren's activities, and her support was unending. A wonderful cook, Marion was also an accomplished knitter, and an expert seamstress, making all sort of clothing for herself, and her grandchildren. Until beset with Alzheimer's Disease, Marion enjoyed her later years at home in West Hartford, and was cared for by her husband for several years prior to spending the last months of her life at an assisted living facility in West Hartford, where she received from Malcolm on the occasion of her 91st birthday her last red rose – a sign of his enduring love for her. Marion leaves her sons, Michael and his wife Karen, Mark and his wife Joanne; grandchildren, Michele Teufel, Kristofer Jones, Bethany Flaherty, Lauren Jones, and Melissa Jones; and her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Teufel, and Kent and Dean Jones. A memorial gathering for Marion and a spreading of her ashes, and those of her husband's, will be held at the convenience of the family, at Great Pond, Belgrade Lakes, Maine.
