Margaret Mary Mayr

Margaret Mary Lynch Mayr, 70, of Bloomfield, CT, wife of Edward G. Mayr, died peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born on April 13, 1949 the daughter of Matthew and Grace Duffy Lynch, Margaret and four siblings grew up on Eldert Lane in Brooklyn, NY. After losing her father when she was nine, Margaret helped her mother by assuming responsibilities beyond her years in helping care for her siblings. In 1966, she graduated from Christ the King High School, where she first met Edward, and went on to graduate from Marymount Manhattan College. Margaret began her career with Bank of New York and later worked for the United States Army as a budget analyst for many years before moving on to the Defense Contract Management Agency, retiring in 2016. Margaret and Edward first met in high school, following his service in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam, they were married in 1976. In 1978 they moved to Bayside, Queens to raise their family. While in Queens, Margaret was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. She was a frequent blood and platelet donor with the American Red Cross for decades. In retirement, Margaret and Edward moved to Bloomfield, CT and were members of the Church of Saint Timothy. Margaret’s greatest joy was her family. In addition to Edward, she is survived by her two children and their families, Jameson Mayr, his wife Monika Krawczyk, and his children, Connor and Madison Mayr, and LCDR Karen Grace Zeman, USN, her husband LCDR Joseph Zeman, USN, and their children Elizabeth and Catherine Zeman. Margaret was predeceased by her sister Jo Ellen Lynch. Margaret is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Mary and Gene Westmoreland, Lawrence and Kathe Lynch, and Eileen and Dr. Justin Lamont; her sister-in-law, Kate Parkin; along with many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Wednesday, January, 22, 2020 at the Church of Saint Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford.
