Irene Marjorie Pintavalle

Irene Marjorie Clark Pintavalle 91, of Newington passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Robert John Pintavalle, they shared a life together for 63 years. She was born in Highwater P.Q., Canada, the daughter of the late Herbert & Mildred Clark. When Irene was 7 months old, the family returned to the U.S. and settled in Hartford, CT. She met Bob at St. Paul's Methodist Church where they married in 1942. They were blessed with three daughters, Barbara Ann, Bette Jean and Nancy Irene. A devoted wife, mother, & homemaker, Irene had a talent for sewing pretty things for her three girls, crafting lovely needlepoint pieces, & constructing beautiful quilts. She had a passion for decorating her cozy West Hartford home and was always fashionably dressed. Following retirement, Bob and Irene moved to Simsbury where they enjoyed making new friends, something which came especially easy to Irene. "To know her was to love her." They enjoyed camping and traveled across the country, often with a grandchild along to experience new & exciting adventures. Their daughters lived in various places around the country, but visits, especially holidays, were important to each of them. Irene spent the last few years at Jefferson House in Newington, CT, where she was given exceptional care and attention by the Morgan Unit staff. She also received special care provided by members of Hartford HealthCare at Home for which her family is deeply grateful. She leaves to mourn her loss, daughter Bette Malsick of Alabama, sister Norma & husband Paul DiDomenico, brother & sister-in-law Eugene & Jane Pintavalle, three grandchildren Christopher Bornas, Stefanie Bornas McNichol and Michael Malsick; four great grandchildren Niko Dye-Oliva, Lillian NB Grace McNichol, Peyton & Madelyn Malsick; nieces & nephews Susan & Richard Drayton, Cynthia & Jim Logan, Paul & Donna Lux DiDomenico, Jeffrey & Karen DiDomenico, Bob, Tom & Steve Pintavalle, Lynn & Tom Lukach and several great nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was predeceased by daughters Barbara McGrath & Nancy Bornas, sister Agnes MacDonald, nephew James DiDomenico, sons-in-law Michael Malsick & Nicholas Bornas. A funeral service will be held at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main St., West Hartford, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 to be officiated by the Reverend Rhonda R. Taylor of The United Methodist Church of Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson House Recreation Fund, 1 John H.
